A Full Fledged Room
The screened-in, square porch, conveniently attached to the dining room, functioned as more than a summer eating area. Because it was equipped with a maid call button, electric outlets, a central art-glass light fixture (removed to The Minneapolis Institute of Arts and replaced by a reproduction), and a swing, it was indeed a multipurpose outdoor room. Here is where the Purcells enjoyed the western sunsets, Lake of the Isles, and their neighbors' gardens, undeterred by mosquitoes. next stop >
