Sketching in the Galleries: Principles of Design, Contrast

Saturday, March 9, 2013
10:15 a.m. – 1:15 p.m.

Studio 114 and museum galleries

Instructor: Ken Wenzel

The juxtaposition of dissimilar elements creates contrast, one of the necessary design aspects of successful works of art. Stark contrast can create dramatic effects and subtle contrasts can have a profound effect on the feeling and content of a work. Students will explore various types of visual contrast in the classroom and recreate them in drawings from works in the galleries.

Fees per session: $30; $22 for MIA members. To register, call (612) 870-6323 or register online »
