The juxtaposition of dissimilar elements creates contrast, one of the necessary design aspects of successful works of art. Stark contrast can create dramatic effects and subtle contrasts can have a profound effect on the feeling and content of a work. Students will explore various types of visual contrast in the classroom and recreate them in drawings from works in the galleries.

Spr1 (ages 4 & 5) Saturdays March 9, 16 & 23, 201310:30 a.m. – Noon Studio 111 Art Studio I courses encourage students to make and experience art through creative play. Each distinctly themed offering of the course is different and is thoughtfully designed to foster creativity, develop independent problem-solving skills, and encourage each child's unique form of self-expression.

Each distinctly themed offering is unique. Students are encouraged to use fundamental skills learned in the studio to record their unique perception of the world around them. This course is designed to promote creative choices, artistic awareness, and independent decision-making.
