LECTURE Friends Lecture: "Pablo Picasso in Vallauris: The Artist and the Artisans" SPEAKER CHANGE Thursday, September 13, 201211 a.m. – Noon Pillsbury Auditorium Granddaughter of Pablo Picasso and Marie-Thérèse Walter, Diana Widmaier Picasso was meant to discuss recent discoveries regarding Picasso's sheet-metal sculptures between 1954 and 1964.
However, a family illness caused her to cancel her trip. In her place, the Friends are pleased to welcome MIA curator of photography and new media, David E. Little, as the featured speaker, with a lecture titled: "Art After Picasso: A Chance Meeting Between Marcel Duchamp and Jackson Pollock in New York." Before his arrival at the MIA in 2008, Little lectured for several years on modern art and painting at the The Museum of Modern Art and The Whitney Museum of American Art.
