Policies and Procedures
The Minneapolis Institute of Arts welcomes opportunities to host events, such as rehearsal dinners, wedding receptions, luncheons, dinners, parties, meetings and retreats for private, corporate and nonprofit clients.

The museum reserves the right to review special-event plans to ensure that they are compatible with the MIA’s mission. Please note that the museum is unable to host political activities, fund-raising events, religious ceremonies, proms, memorials, or any commercial functions. To safeguard the art, please be advised that red wine, candles, banners, balloons, and glitter/confetti are prohibited in the galleries. Cooking and the use of steam tables in the galleries are not allowed.

Professional Photography at the MIA: It’s a Snap! 

The Minneapolis Institute of Arts welcomes you, your guests, and the professionals who will help capture your special event. To safeguard the art, a permit is required for any posed or commercial photography within the museum. A two-hour photography permit is available for purchase.

Also, please note: Video recording in the museum is prohibited.
