Art in Bloom
2012-13 Co-Chairs: Maria Eggemeyer and Ziya Tarapore
Produces the Friends’ spring fund-raiser, Art in Bloom, in cooperation with MIA staff. More than 60 volunteers manage floral artists, the AIB Gift Shop, speaker arrangements, and all special events during the four-day event in late April/early May.
2012-13 Co-Chairs: Amanda Falloon and Katie Eiser (2012), Linda Goldenberg and Jane MacKenzie (2013)
Produces the Friends’ summer fund-raiser, Art Perchance, in cooperation with MIA staff. More than 30 volunteers manage art procurement, game set-up, and more for this one-night event in August.

Reviews proposed projects that will provide enriching opportunities for young people to experience and be inspired by the world of art.
2012-13 Chair: JeanMarie Burtness
Plans programs for the Friends membership. For example, the Friends book club, special tours with MIA curators or lectures by local artists.
2012-13 Chair: Nikki Lewis
Organizes, researches, and maintains the Friends’ historical information.
2012-13 Co-Chairs: Anna Bethune and Melanie Nelson
Plans and makes arrangements for coffees and luncheons that precede or follow the monthly Friends lecture series.
2012-13 Co-Chairs: Carrie Kilberg & Vickie Foster
Promotes Friends membership to the community and processes new and renewing memberships.
2012-13 Co-Chairs: Robin Keyworth and Katie Eiser
Determines and plans the publicity and promotional needs of Membership, special events and the lecture series. Looks for ways to promote the benefits and opportunities of Friends membership, and promotes Friends membership and events.
Museum Shop & VMS Liaison
2012-13 Chair: Martha Beery Milbery
Acts as the liaison between the Friends board and the Museum Shop and Visitor Member Services departments, sharing news and information with the board-at-large.
New Member Liaison
2012-13 Chair: Julie Holland
Contacts and welcomes all new members, informs them of Friends activities and opportunities, and plans special activities just for new members.
2012-13 Co-Chairs: Tracy Schaefer and Patty McCullough
Edits the Friends newsletter, writing articles, conducting interviews, and compiling information as needed.
2012-13 Chair: Katie Searl
Responsible for preparing and presenting a slate of officers for the Friends board to be elected at the annual meeting. Chaired by the immediate past president of the Friends Board.
Plants and Flowers
2012-13 Co-Chairs: Kris Bjorklund and Tami Portmann
Arranges for interior flower arrangements and winter holiday décor at the MIA.
2012-13 Co-Chairs: Martha Bordwell and Fran Megarry
Plans the Fiterman Lecture Series (presented by the Friends) and manages speakers’ in-town itineraries.
Research and Planning
2012-13 Chair: Jackie Tyson
Serves as a fact-finding, creative development, and study committee for the Friends. The committee also reviews Friends board guidelines, job descriptions, and policies & procedures. Chaired by the second vice president of the Friends board.
2012-13 Chairs: Kay Miller and Lin Stein
Manages the disbursement of funds from the Friends Transportation Fund to cover transportation costs for metro-area children to visit the MIA for docent tours.
2012-13 Chair: Janice Anderson
Provides volunteers for MIA and Friends projects as requested.
