This is the first MIA exhibition to show a wide range of textiles from Northern, Western, and Central Africa. The blankets, wrappers, tunics, robes, costumes, and headdresses illustrate the boundless creativity of African weavers and the inventiveness of fashion-conscious consumers. "The Fabric of Society" includes a catwalk to display these stunning garments in the round.
