This year marks the 25th anniversary of the MIA Antiques Show and Sale, which debuted in 1984 at the Minneapolis Armory. The Antiques Show was initiated by the Decorative Arts Curatorial Council, a volunteer group whose mission is to foster a greater appreciation and knowledge of the decorative arts. Proceeds from the show support acquisitions by the MIA’s Department of Architecture, Design, Decorative Arts, Craft, and Sculpture.

To date, more than 80 works have been added to the MIA collection as a result of this enterprise, an average of more than three works per year. To celebrate the Antiques Show and Sale’s 25th anniversary, a diverse selection of objects is presently installed in the Bell Family Decorative Arts Court (G333). Many other pieces can be seen throughout the third floor galleries (in addition to the second level of the Target Wing).
