Strange Ornament from the Renaissance Mind

Saturday, November 8, 2008—Sunday, May 3, 2009
Gallery 344
Free Exhibition

Ancient decorative motifs called "grotesques" are among the themes that inspired the fanciful and at times frightening ornament prints in this exhibition. Drawn from the MIA's permanent collection, the exhibition includes more than two dozen designs for such objects as tankards, ewers, armor, watches, and more.
