The magnificent collection of Chinese art at The Minneapolis Institute of Arts has just been expanded by 44 percent to include seven new galleries and seven renovated galleries, now occupying the entire east wing of the second floor of the museum. This expansion brings the total space devoted to Chinese art to 20,000 square feet and provides visitors with their first comprehensive overview of these remarkable holdings, now one of the largest displays of classical Chinese art and architecture in the country.

The new Chinese galleries mark the completion of the first phase of the Institute’s building expansion designed by renowned architect Michael Graves and due to open on June 11, 2006.
