In 1997, the Northern Clay Center in Minneapolis developed the Regis Masters Series, with support from the Regis Foundation, as a unique way to celebrate the contributions of groundbreaking artists in the national ceramic community. Seventeen artists have given presentations for the series, which is held at the Institute. Among them are Warren MacKenzie, Peter Voulkos, Rudy Autio, Karen Karnes, and Eva Zeisel. "Regis Masters 1997-2004: Selections from the Permanent Collection" showcases works by Regis Masters represented in the Institute's collection, from Voulkos's oversized, energetically constructed stack pot Big-A to Karnes's subtly-glazed, nonfunctional Winged Vessel. The show also features the publication Clay Talks: Reflections by American Master Ceramists, Regis Masters Series 1997 – 2000. This book, published by the Northern Clay Center in 2004, includes transcriptions of the presentations by the first thirteen Regis Masters, and conversations from two reunion roundtables of the Regis Masters Series.
