"Designed for Children" highlights modern and contemporary design specifically for children's use, including Russel Wright's 1959 play dishes from his popular American Modern line, shown here. The installation also features the work of husband-and-wife design team Charles and Ray Eames from the 1950s and 1960s, notably their colorful and geometric Hang-It-All and several of their dynamic short films. Whimsical contemporary objects include Swedish designer Ulf Hanses's Streamliner toy cars and the Elephant Party mobile from Danish designer Ole Flensted. This small and charming exhibit will delight and inspire children and their parents while visiting the Institute.
