Art in Bloom 2024

Join Friends of the Institute in the museum and celebrate the 40th anniversary of Art in Bloom April 25-28! Here are a few highlights:

  • * Each of our Art in Bloom Pedestal Floral Artists has created a beautiful fresh floral display interpreting a curator-chosen work of art from Mia’s collection. The flowers and paired art can be viewed in galleries throughout the museum. In their own words, they’ve shared with visitors what inspired their creative floral design.
  • * Commercial Floral Artist displays throughout the museum and outdoors each interpret Art in Bloom’s 2024 Signature Artwork, It’s a Delicate Balance, shown above and on view in Gallery 301. Our Commercial Floral Artists share what has inspired their creative floral designs.
  • * Free daily guided tours specifically curated with a floral eye and extensive knowledge of each work of art.

Although admission to Art in Bloom (AiB) is free and open to everyone, it’s important to realize that AiB is the Friends’ most essential annual fundraiser, and the flowers of AiB bloom in the museum thanks to Friends of the Institute. Funds raised enable Friends to sponsor events like Art in Bloom and to continue our mission of sustaining and enhancing Mia’s collections, exhibitions, and programs. Please donate generously today to support Art in Bloom.

Plan Your Visit

Commercial Floral Artists Share Their Inspiration

Friends of the Institute is honored to highlight It’s a Delicate Balance, by Christi Belcourt, as our Signature Piece for Art in Bloom 2024. Timely and meaningful, this artwork beautifully depicts the interdependence of an abundance of living beings, many of which are currently threatened, endangered, or on the edge of extinction. Using small dots of acrylic paint and following the tradition of intricate Métis beadwork, Christi proudly expresses her deep respect for the traditions and knowledge of her people, the Métis community of Mânitou Sâkhigan (Lac Ste. Anne) in Alberta.

During your visit, It’s a Delicate Balance can be enjoyed in Gallery 301. Inspired by this incredible art, each of our Commercial Floral Artists are interpreting it with their floral displays. Learn more about these florists and read how this artwork has inspired their floral designs.
